Is this April First?

Someone tell me I got the calendar wrong -- it must be April 1st, April Fools Day. After given the Nobel Peace Prize to the bag of hot air, Al Gore, you had to wonder how they would top off that absurdity. Now we know. Barack Obama, who has accomplished virtually nothing politically, in his very short political career was granted the prize, and the cash award, mainly because he sounds good.

The Leftist who dominate the Norwegian parliament, which hands out the prize, use the prize as a mean of making political statements, not of actually rewarding people for accomplishments toward peace. If this weren't in keeping with the absurd politics of the Norwegian parliament I'd think it was a joke. Actually, when I saw the first headline saying Obama had won I assumed it was a joke. But then, I still think it's a joke, a really silly, absurd joke that just isn't funny.

His only attempt at diplomacy was the infamous "beer summit" where he sat down to booze it up with a cop and a black academic who was offended by the way the cop acted. This is hardly worthy of a peace prize. But the jokers who awarded the prize say it is for Obama's "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." Right. And when did that happen?
