Does same sex marriage threaten religious freedom?

Maggie Gallagher is a conservative and these days the term seems to be defined by how much time one spends attacking equality for gay couples. It sure doesn’t mean balanced budgets, limited government and deregulation. Gallagher has an article in The Weekly Standard regarding the issue of gay marriage and religious liberty.

Her main point is that we have to stop gays from forming legal, committed relationships because such relationships really do hurt other people. As she whined: “How could Adam and Steve's marriage possibly hurt anyone else? When religious-right leaders prophesy negative consequences from gay marriage, they are often seen as overwrought. The First Amendment, we are told, will protect religious groups from persecution for their views about marriage.”
