Last day of Australia's summer hit by snow.

Nat King Cole used to sing:

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer You'll wish that summer could alway be here.

Apparently summer is a fond memory in parts of Australia. Down-under the seasons are reversed from the North so they are just ending summer as we Northerners leave winter behind. But in parts of New South Wales the last day of summer came in with snow! With below freezing temperatures the hitting during summer some of the ski resorts are already counting their profits.

According to this news report: "Weather forecasters are already predicting a bumper snow season for 2008... Temperatures are expected to remain low with persistent precipitation throughout the winter."

An official from the Perisher Blue ski resort says: "We have barely had a summer this year. It's felt as though it's remained cold since the end of the 2007 season, apart from a few warm days, the air has always had a nip in it."

I suspect the resort is now wondering why they invested $9.75 million in new snowmaking equipment.
