Vice President's grandchild has two mommies.

It's official and the Religious Right will have fits. Mary Cheney, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, is pregnant. Cheney is in a 15 year same-sex relationship with partner Heather Poe. She refers to her relationship with Poe as a "marriage" and took Poe as her guest to a dinner for Prince Charles at the White House. A spokesman for the vice president says he is delighted.

Understand this means that the grandchild of the Republican vice president of the United States is going to have two mommies. (Pass the smelling salts to Falwell, Dobson and Robertson. Actually, forget that, we're all better off if they don't come through.) This should be fun to watch.

The unfortunate thing is that Cheney and her partner live in Viriginia where Christianists just stripped gay couples of any and all legal rights including matters of custody regarding the child. Maybe the vice president should take his Religious Right buddies out duck hunting?
