George says punishment is coming.

George Bush has commented on the slaughter of innocent civilians in a massacre in Iraq by US forces. He said: "I am troubled by the initial news stories. I am mindful there is a thorough investigation going on. If in fact laws were broken there will be punishment."

Well rumour has it (he said satirically) that the Marines in question acknowledge that such laws exist and that they violated them. However, they have signed statements exempting themselves from the law and feel that the courts can not have any jurisdiction over them. In addition they are under the command of the President who has publicly asserted that he unlimited powers to act in any way he deems necessary regardless of the law. As such they feel such restraints can not apply to them since they are the actual ones fighting terrorism.

If the tactic is good for the White House why not for the troops?
