Imposing morality.

One of the most common myths promoted by conservative statists regards morality. If a liberal, modern or classical, argues for freedom of speech and says to the conservative: "You shouldn't force your morality on others" the conservative often replies: "Why not? You're forcing your morality on me."

What exactly took place here. Exactly what was being forced on the conservative? But often their opponent is confused by the argument. And well they should be since what the conservative has done is reverse the meaning of force. Now leaving others alone is said to be imposing on them or forcing them.
